Spartan Girls Who Code
A signature MSU WIE & CSE Outreach Program, Spartan Girls Who Code (SGWC) aims to inspire and empower girls to create technology for the benefit of all. Run by students for students, MSU student-mentors guide 6th- through 12th-grade student-participants through a fun, engaging and empowering learning experience.

Application Process for Women in Engineering

Login or Create an Account:
- Under Women in Engineering, click the Login button.
- If you have been in our program before, use your email and password to log in.
- If you are attempting to make a new account, click the Click Here button highlighted in blue.
- Create your account using your email and any desired password.
- An email will be sent to you to access your account. It will look like the one below. Click on the link highlighted on the Click Here button to access your account.
- Re-enter your email and password to log into your account.

Complete the Application Form:
- Once you have gained access to your account, click on the Apply tab at the top of your screen to access the application form.
- Click on Fill Info: Application Info.
- After completing the form, agree to the terms and save the application.

Complete the Parent Consent Form:
- Repeat the same process as above to fill out the parent consent form.
- After completing the form, agree to the terms and save the application.

Complete Additional Forms:
- Under the Apply tab, complete the following forms:
- Student Release Authorization Form
- Media Release Form
- Medical Treatment Authorization Form
- Upon completion, select Save to save all your information.

Submit Your Application:
- Go to the Apply tab, then click on Submit Application.
- Select the program you are interested in. Keep in mind that these programs are all at the same time, so select the one most convenient for you.
- Once you've selected your program, click Submit Application to complete the process.
- Note: If you have not filled out all the required forms, you will not be able to submit your application.
Meetings
Saturdays, Jan. 25−Apr. 12 • 10:00 a.m.−noon.
Except Mar. 1, Mar. 8, Mar. 22, and Mar. 29.
By regestering interest, you are applying to participate in the entire Spring 2025 session. To be elligible for a certificate of completion and small incentives, you must attend at least 7 of the 8 scheduled meetings and complete a final project.
In the event that a meeting is cancelled (due to instructor illness, etc), we will send a notice to the contact email address(es) provided at registration and post a notice in the news by 8:00 a.m. of the affected Saturday.
Cost
Thanks to generous support from Michigan State and Ford, instruction and software are provided free of charge.
Technology Requirements
In-person meetings does not have any technology requirements.
Remote meetings require use of a device with at least the capability of a Chromebook connected to the internet. Although not required, we recommend the device is equipped with a webcam and microphone to permit full engagement with mentors and other participants.
Course software will run best in Chrome, but is compatible with other web browsers. The most recent version of Zoom should be used.
